On Wednesday, August 16, 2006, Fox News reported that a Democratic advertisement in Washington infuriated many Hispanics by comparing Latino immigrants to terrorists. Many famous faces were on the ad, including the picture of Usama Bin Laden, President Kim Jong II of North Korea, and Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Many government workers and leaders are asking the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee to pull the ad off the internet and television, including Houston City Councilwoman Carol Alvarado and Lisa Navarette, a spokeswoman for the National Council of La Raza.
In this article was a description of the article, which could be effective in changing his or her views on political parties. If I were Hispanic, I would probably be offended by the ad's description, with many terrorists (which resemble Hispanics) jumping over a metal fence, and a phrase saying, "millions more illegal immigrants". I believe the DSCC should have been more selective with the people in this commercial. It is understandable that the Democratic Party believes that massive immigration is the cause for our terrorism. It seems that almost anyone can get away with escaping to the United states illegally. I am strongly against illegal immigration, but the DSCC should have used statistics and interviews in its commercial, such as a poll taken by thousands of Americans, asking their opinion on immigration. However, the commercial was aired to encourage voters to believe that the White House Administration and Republican Senators are responsible for the laws supporting the current illegal immigrants.
