I reviewed the article "The Job "Recovery" is Over" (http://www.laborresearch.org/story2.php/422). The article describes the rising unemployment in the nation in "urban labor markets", and while there was a rise in employment during the first quarter of 2006, there is now another decline. The article also states that "employment in manufacturing, transportation, and whole sale trades is still below 2001 levels". Finaly the article discusses this influence on inflation and the fact that "lower-wage jobs are growing faster than higher-wage jobs". As a result of this the minimum wage debate beceause even more important.I found this article beneficial. I think that it is very important to understand the importance of what goes on in the job market, as we as students embarke upon the world of employment. This article also breaks down a very brief history of the ups and downs of basic economics and the job market. It is also very timely, only a few months after strikes from many illegal immigrants from their minimum wage jobs. And if the job market continues to decline some Americans may be forced to take lower paying jobs.
