SECTION: OPINION; Pg. A43 HEADLINE: Long way to go in gender gap; Attitude shift needed to fully capitalize on women's talents.
This article discusses the gap between men and women in the business world. Not only is this a problem in the United States but globally. Most recent research conducted by Catalyst shows that "womenomics" (around the world smart business leaders are seeing women's equality as a new tool for economic growth) has come to a halt in recent years. A link to this is the lack of paid maternity leave, wage inequalities and quality childcare. The article goes on to say that for a change there needs to be an attitude shift with not only women but men also. By doing this it will bring a new set of skills and determination, in addition it will shed light on the neglected family and work issues.
After reading this article I was quite perplexed because as a woman in today's society I thought that the glass ceiling was cracking. I do not believe that women rising in the business world have come to a halt. There are many powerful women in offices around the world and I believe the numbers will continue to grow.
