In Zambia the social inequality gap is getting bigger and bigger by the day. A lot of people who are well fed, and nourished and on the flip-side there is alot of people who don't have enough, and are malnourished. Due to circumstances such as this many people believe that the poor will try to rebel against the rich someday in the near future, and this will add hostility and seperation among the citizens. Also a democratic country can't be formed with such inequalites, among the citizens, or when the minority not the majority of the country are making the decisions.
Another huge issue would be how the poor don't get alot of input in this country. Therefore the rich or people who are well off are running the country. The ironically thing about this is that they are running the country, "by themselves for themselves". This country definetly doesn't run for the people as a whole, but rather for the people that have. There is even an African proverb that contrdicts what is going on in Zambia. It goes "i am because we are and we are because i am". What ever happen to this way of living? Greed.
Not only is there social seperation among politics with residents in Zambia. But also schools, churches, health care, and where they buy their goods at. It's gotten so bad that when the poor people get sick, doctors will send them aboard to get health care somewhere else.
According to the article in order to prevent such inequalities Zambia needs a leader who is willing to change all of the things that has been going on. I agree it seems like whoever the leader is, isn't really trying to change anything. They may just want to please the rich people because they are rich themselves, and defending the poor wouldn't really look good. Especially when the rich is the one who voted the leader in the first place.
