Israel tries to control Gaza

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/09/19/israel.gaza/index.html

Earlier this week, Israel’s security Cabinet declared Gaza, the Hamas controlled area, to be a “hostile entity.” This remark was made about the continued rockets attacks. The Cabinet had a unanimous vote concerning this major escalation in the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Israel’s defense minister proposed a plan that would eventually interrupt electrical supplies, reduce the amount of fuel shipped so that they only receive the minimum amount to run on, and cut off shipments of goods. However, they decided to not cut off the water supply. The Internal Security Minister of Israel stated that this declaration can enable the necessary sanctions to be taken, “but those sanctions would not cross ‘the red line when it came to humanitarian needs.’” By the Security Minister stating this in his radio interview, it shows that all the Israelis want to do is to put the Palestinians in an uncomfortable situation by only giving them enough necessary items to live off of. An Israeli official commented that the Hamas are a terror organization that gained control over the Gaza Strip and turned it into a hostile environment. The Hamas carry out hostile actions on the state of Israel and the people that live there. They are the ones that are responsible for all this activity going on.
After reading this article, I realized that Israel is not trying to kill all the citizens of Gaza. By cutting off all the supplies to being a bare minimum, it should just scare them a little in the hopes that all the rocket attacks will soon cease.
