Nigerian "First Lady" Issues

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7004098.stm

A new governor in Nigeria is receiving publicity because one of his many wives is angry that he will not name a "first lady". He is muslim and states that all his wives have equal value to him, so he can not name just one to be first lady. There are 10 other muslim governors who face the same problem. Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako has four wives but one in particular is upset because she has not been named first lady. She has contributed alot to the state as far as immunization and HIV-AIDS education. He will not name her as first lady though and this is causing conflict between them. I think that naming someone first lady when you have 3 other wives isn't fair. If you're going to do it, you should at least name the one that was actually "first" to be first lady. It would make sense to do that and would make things less complicated. Of course, they could just eliminate polygamy because haven't they understood by now that one wife is enough? Especially now in today's changing world when women voice their opinions and feelings more freely than they did in the past-even in Africa. This problem seems funny to me, because it could easily be avoided. He could just get rid of her or just "make" her be quiet, right? It seems to me like he needs to wear some pants in that situation. And if in fact she does put up a good fight with him- maybe she does deserve to be first lady because she's challenging the governor, which shows courage.
