This is kinda a funny article. The author is pretty much trying to explain why the UNFPA (Which is a federal organization that deals and manages the issue of population around the world. The United Nations Population Fund.) is trying to make urbanization a problem so they can control it. What I got from reading this article is that they have succeded in dealing with the population increase through fertilty and contreceptives in many countries. They have sucessfully made a clear outlook in controling the population for the future. However, this means that there really isnt a job for the UNFPA. They have to "create" a problem according to the author and this time that problem is urbanization.
Although the UNFPA admits that urbanization is a good thing and helps in a lot of economic areas. They also admit that urbanization is a form of population growth. They give reasons, that in my opinion are pretty far fetched, of way urbanization is an issue. The author says that since urbanization is an increase of population through migration and not birth its not a issue for a international population control system. Moreover he says that since the rural population deccreases year by year that without taking hold of urbanization the UNFPA really has nothing to hold on too.
The UNFPA explains why they are needed in the area of urbanization. Religious revivals will start to appear in all of its glory and different forms. With all these new cultures and revivals the cities are going to fail to meet the needs of all these different religious groups. Therefore religious unrest will occur. Urbanization causes religious unrest and religious unrest causes Terrorism. UNFPA’s agenda is clear: It seeks to promote an apparent cult of universal fertility control, including both urban and rural areas in its purview: “Since high fertility in rural areas often underlies rural-urban migration, lower fertility in both rural and urban areas can decelerate urban growth.” None of this will change until the ideology of population control. Read this and see you think.
