The article is an interview with Steven Chu. The interview begins to talk about the energy and the environmental issues. In response to the question Chu states that there is a major problem and are foreign policy is "highly directed in trying to get guaranteed access to oil". The article goes on talking about energy use then and now. Steven Chu response to that was "It depends on where you live at". He also states that if you are going to become more energy efficient, you need to compare energy use to GDP. Chu goes on to talk about the environment and how the earth is warming up faster than we thought, and the ice caps are melting faster than we thought. The world average for glacier melt is 1.2 meters per year. In the closing of the interview the reporter asked Chu about the areas the world should be focused on. His reply to the question was "energy will become increasingly high-tech, generation and use". He also said that hw will be happy if we spent 1%, $20 billion. At $20 billion you go into nanotech solar, wind doesn't need more research; you just need mechanism for long-distance transmission lines.
I feel that this article was very valid with the situation that is going on in the world pertaining to our environment. Steven Chu explained very well that there needs to be a changes in the world or its going to be a disaster.
