On Sunday November 18, 2007 Pfc. Marius Ferrero, Cpl. Christopher J. Nelson, and Cpl. Jason T. Lee were all killed from an IED detonated by a suicide bomber in Baqouba, Iraq. Ferrero's death comes four day before Thanksgiving when most Americans were flying or driving long distances to be with family and friends. Among the dead were three children, a sign that all suffer in war and terror. The three GI's were killed while passing out toys and candy to children at a local playground. Ferrero's mother was terrified when she saw two Army soldiers standing in her home waiting to tell her the news of her sons death, screaming "oh my God, it can't be. It can't be my son," but it was her son, and now his death adds a new grave to a local church in Miami, Florida.
The tradgity of the death of Pfc. Marius Ferrero while handing out toys and candy to innocent children is a sign that with the chaos in war, help is often met with a tradgic ending. But progress should not be stop because of actions of stupid people and their lack of compassion towards children. Because by stopping progress disaster shall soon follow.
