There were at least 15 people that were killed in Myanmar when the military attempted to crush a demonstration in September. The U.N.'s Paulo Sergio Pinheiro stated that he assumes that there were more people killed in other parts of the country. He stated that "This is just in Yangon," Pinheiro said. "The government has not told me all the casualties in the country." One of the main purposes that Pinheiro visited this country was to find out how many people were killed and or detained. The government is only willing to state that 10 people were killed when troops opened fire on crowds on the peaceful protesters on September 26 and 27. The Diplomas and dissident said that the total was higher. The government told Pinheiro that they have detained around 3,000 people who had some type of connection with the demonstrations. The military stated that most of the people were released but many political activists remain in custody. "Of course, I am happy that large numbers of people have been released," Pinheiro said in Yangon on Thursday. "But I have my concerns about the situation of those who have not been released.
This is a terrible situation that never should have happened. If the government was more concerned with their people they would have a much better place. This government is too concerned on how to control their people that they are hurting their people in the act of controlling them. The government wants to keep the people under them in order to control them. If they control them they get to do what they won’t but the people are losing their human rights in the process.
