Poverty effecting the growth of green cities.

On November 8, 2007 Dr. Janice Perlman, who holds a B.A. from Cornell University in anthropology and Latin American studies as well as a Ph.D. from MIT in political science with a concentration in international urban studies, spoke Wednesday about "the challenges that come with efforts to implement sustainable design, methods and strategies in cities across the world during her session titled “A Global Perspective on Mega-Cities and Urban Innovations” at the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Chicago". She spoke on how the world is only about half way done with industrialization, and how the growth of urban area will cause great damage to the environment.

I believe that the growth of large cities speeds up the damage to the environment. I believe that the high concentration of people and the large amount of waste makes it impossible to have a green mega-city. I believe that there needs to be steps taken by every country in this world to provide for the sustainabilty of our Earth and her natural resources.
