One of the main camps housing Sudanese refugees and displaced people was surrounded and shot at by government troops. The camp is also home to a large group of doctors from the program “Doctors without borders.” The government claimed that the people at the camp were helping the rebels and storing guns on site. The camp is home to over 90,000 displaced Sudanese people, and is one of the oldest camps in the region. Many were killed, and even more injured when armed vehicles opened fire on the camp early in the morning. The United Nations stated that it was “gravely concerned.”
The reaction from the UN in this article really pissed me off. They didn’t send anyone out to the camp until 5 in the evening after hours had already passed after the attack. The war and violence in the Darfur region of Sudan has been going on for over 5 years now, and nothing has really been done about it. Sure people raise awareness of what’s going on; but how does that help the people who are being killed everyday fighting a religious war? The UN needs to have more of an influence considering their name.

I do agree with you. When things happen like this it should be taken care of and not just shrugged off someones shoulder. If something is not done then it could possibly mean more lives are taked. That is really messed up.
Like you said people bring awarness to the situations like this but the attention usually doesnt last very long. Thus leacing the devestation to continue and the people to be hurt or killed.
I agree completely! It is absolutely ridiculous that is took help 5 hours after the attack to come and assist these people. There should have been help right away, and it just disgusts me that there wasn't.
