On July 28, 2008 a famous pop diva named Suzanne Tamim was found stabbed to death and her throat slit at her home in Dubai. Just recently have authorities in Egypt charged someone with the killing. Hisham Talaat Moustafa was charged with paying $2 million for the killing of Ms. Tamim. This crime is believed to be that of revenge as the two had a failed love affair. Mr. Moustafa is a well-known man in Egypt. In fact, when this story hit newsstands it was everywhere except Egypt. Newspapers had been prohibited from reporting on the story. Mr. Moustafa is a lawmaker and his net worth was reported to be $800 million in 2007. This powerful man hired a former police officer to kill Ms. Tamim. The rich emirate of Dubai has been stripped of legislative immunity, replaced as chairman of an advisory group in the Parliament as well. The Lebanese diva was just thirty and the victim of a horrible act of violence. I’m somewhat shocked about this situation. It is so unfortunate that this man went to this extreme to take out his revenge. He simply used his power and status to execute his plan. I’m not sure of any details as to the nature of the relationship between the two, but something must have pushed him to the brink. Yet and still, there is absolutely no excuse for murder.

This clearly shows how people with power can abuse it, this is just an extreme of how power can be used.
