A report issued out of New Delhi indicated that the unlawful attacks against Christians that erupted over a month ago is still ongoing. In the past week there have been increased cases of murder, rape and arson in the areas of Orissa and Karnataka. Violence is now spreading North as two Christians were found murdered in Uttarkhand. According to The Indian Express, a local newspaper out of Mumbai , roughly 2,000 people gathered around the Raikia police station to protest and press for the release of two Masakadian villagers, who had been accused and charged of arson and rioting. “Security personnel,” from the Central Reserve Police Force, opened fire in order to ensure insurgent’s access into the building would be denied; the results being two critically injured individuals and one mortality. In the Kandhamal district, a woman was reportedly gang raped by “unidentified rioters,” while a man’s life was abruptly taken from him. There was also a report of man who was accompanied by his wife who were in the process of returning to their former village in order to visit his dying father, who was reported by his wife to be killed by extremists because they failed to convert from Christianity to Hinduism; he had been warned by extremists in the past not to return or he would face an untimely death. Also in Uttarakhand on Monday, two members of the Catholic faith were found strangled to death in their prayer center.

As I mentioned before, the violence has endured for roughly over a month now and has been a problem in previous years as well. It’s terrible that these individuals are continuing to suffer for the sake of their religion. The Bible warns of perilous times so I assume this why there is relatively nothing that can be done about it because things are only expected to get worst. It’s just frustrating that there has been no significant let up whatsoever. It seems as if every time the government or officials gain some form of leverage, they are forced to take two steps back. The violence is spreading and increasing at a rapid rate and as it continues, I’m afraid that this civil/religious war will only make divided lines more distinguishable.

I had read in another article earlier this month that the violence is due to the lack of education. I'm also taking a Religious Studies class and I have been discussing this topic with my professor and I'm not sure if I believe the conflicts are due to their religion any longer. The majority of the violence is being executed by those who can't even read their sacred texts or speak their faith. They do what they are told and believe what the make-shift leaders what them to believe.

It's just an interesting idea as to why.
