Orissa attacks 'worst' in recent history - aicc

Even though additional troops have been sent to Orissa, India there continues to be horrible “casualties and massive damage” to property belonging to Christians.
Rev Madhu Chandra, who is the Regional Secretary of All Indian Christian Council (aicc), said of the attacks they were “the worst violation of the freedom of religion in any democracy in recent history.”
The attackers feel India is only for Hindu’s. They are trying to convert or force them to leave. They try to scare and killing one or two people in a given village or church. Few Indian leaders will admit to this.
Dr. Joseph D’souza (aicc) president claims that the events and attacks are “the negligence of the government. The fact that it’s happening in the world’s largest democracy makes it infinitely sadder.” The aicc says police are not carrying out their jobs.
The rape of a nun and an assault victim, a priest, were treated. But the initial charges were rejected. Finally after more than a month later four people were arrested. The Supreme Court of India finally imposed rules that if police do not file complaints they could “face contempt of court or imprisonment.”
The police defend that they have so many cases that they cannot always file the report and state they are busy trying to maintain order,
The aicc says almost all victims are Christians and the majority do not fight back. The attacks continue to spread out among more states.
This problem of violence is getting worse not better. It seems awful to me that the Christians are reporting problems that most of the time and not even being filed. So no one is charged. The excuse of trying to maintain order does not justify this corruption. More arrests and prosecutions need to implement.
