Sub-Saharan Africa has 1.8 million of the worlds 2 million children, that are infected with the virus that leaes to AIDS. However African countries have only spent 15% of their budget on the health of these women and children. Mother-to-child prevention and treatment coverage currently averages 30 to 40 percent against a target of 80 percent. Most of the money from these countries is being spent on, wars and defence, leaving them to fend for themselves.

Advocators say they need the backing of the international community. THe officials are not moved by the hundreds of thousands of people in their own country, but will be moved if some one more powerful steps in.

THis part of Africa has a huge chunk of the children who have the virus. 1.8 million out of 2 million in the whole world is ALOT. TOOO MUCH!!! These leaders should be outraged at these numbers intheir countries. How can they not be? What kind of people are they? THey spend so much money on wars, but what if you dont have anymore people to defend in your nation because they all died of Aids. The international community really needs to step in and hold them accountable for their actions, or inthis case, lack of action. I am utterly disgusted and repulsed and can not believe that people have to suffer in this way!
