Aid agency seeks Pakistan access

In Pakistan civilians are under attack from the Taliban militant presence in South Waziristan. The Red Cross is being denied access to give aid because the danger is too great. The major attacks have happened in Islamabad, Ghalnai, and Peshawar. All aimed at civilians. A wedding party of 16, mostly children, was all killed when their minivan hit a bomb. A suicide bomber killed 7 people, and a car bombing killed 15 civilians. Thousands of civilians have fled the area since the fighting started. The Red Cross’ head of operations for South Asia, Jacques de Maio, is concerned at the reports he is getting from other civilians who have fled the area of more civilian casualties. Aid needs to be given to the civilians still in the area, and they are being held off.

Civilian casualties are always a devastating part of war and conflicts, but in this case it seems more like civilian murders, then accidents of warfare. The Taliban is aiming their attacks at civilians in order to get what they want from the Pakistani government. War is always a horrible thing, but when the war is aimed at the innocent people of a country, it becomes a sick and evil thing. It saddens me to see human life held in such disregard.

I agree with you 100%. To aim at innocent people to get results that they are hoping for is sickening. How come people can not learn to use other "effective" tactics t oget there message across without those individuals who are innocent. Civilians do not ask to go to war, nor do they usually want to be aparetb ofit. it is decisions made by their governments and their very governments won't even protect their lives.
