“The oppression of women and girls worldwide is one of the paramount human rights problems of this century.” argue Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl Wu Dunn. They estimate 3 million females are held as sex slaves. Many are often kidnapped at a young age then forced to remain a prostitute for the rest of their lives. Kristof and wife Wu Dunn include graphic descriptions of abuse routinely heaped upon women and girls only because their sex is thought to be disreputable.

I think we all need to help end sexual slavery, mass rape, and female genital mutilation in order to reduce the awful suffering and oppression of women and girls. This is a call for help, a call for contributions, and a call for volunteers. We must all see that this humanitarian issue of impoverished females must be dealt with in order to better the future of our world.

I agree with you, unfortunately the abuse of women occurs on large scales all over the world. It saddens me as a woman to see that woman are viewed as the inferior sex, and that men take advantage of women on large scales the way they do. Something definitely needs to be done to protect women globally.
