Police comb landfill for clues to Florida girl's death
Investigators in Georgia are looking for any possible clues they can find about the killing of 7 year old Somer Thompson. They are searching though a landfill fill of garbage. Her body was found in the landfill Wednesday about 55 miles north of Orange Park. Her family members said that was the last place they seen her. The Police have no suspects at this time. Her sister said she got upset about a fight she was in earlier that day and she ran off into the crowd of other children. The sister said she lost sight of Somer in a group of other children leaving the school, according to a police report released Thursday.About 900 leads have been called into a tip line, the sheriff's office said Friday afternoon.Overnight, detectives finished interviewing the 90 registered sex offenders or predators within a 5-mile radius of the Thompson home. They have been contacted in person; their homes have been searched; their families have been spoken to. The case may be featured Saturday on "America's Most Wanted," hosted by John Walsh.A Monday evening viewing is planned, the sheriff's office said, and a memorial service will take place Tuesday. Both will be open to the public, it said. However, a graveside service and burial following the memorial will be private, as will a reception later that day. I do not understand how someone can let there little sister run off and you not know where they are.
