The Swine Flu (H1N1 virus) has affected people all over the world. Scotland has lost twenty-one citizens since the spring when the outbreak started, four in the last day alone. In the last week, the number of people infected with swine flu in Scotland has increased to 14,650. Scotland’s national health system is starting to feel the pressure with all the people flooding the hospitals with swine flu. Despite the increase in new cases each week, the projected number of people that may catch the virus has declined to about 127,000. This will start to alleviate the strain on the system. Throughout the UK, it is expected that one thousand people will die from the virus, two hundred of them being Scots. People with high risk situations are being advised to get their vaccination as soon as possible in an effort to reduce the number of new cases in the coming weeks.
The swine flu is becoming more of a threat to the human population than I ever could have guessed. It isn’t just infecting people in one nation or even one part of the world. This virus is spreading to every nook and cranny of the world and infecting people of all ages. Just yesterday a sixteen year old boy died due to this illness. I think it is very important that people take the swine flu seriously and do whatever they can to protect themselves and their families from its consequences. People at high risk should really consider paying the money to get the vaccine.

Wow, I also did not know swine flu was still affecting this many people. It seems like it isnt being reported in the news at much, but the issue still is at hand, hopefully there will be more ways to prevent the spread of it in the near future.
