Occupy Wallstreet has turned into protest across the US as well as in some countries in the UK and though the United States offers our citizen many rights and freedoms, many countries do not offer the same liberties. In many countries standing up against your government or even some big businesses that offer large support to the government can be hazardous and even deadly. This is a global issue because one should always have the right to stand up for what they believe in especially when the government they live in is causing harm to the citizens they are supposed to protect.
The article I will be writing about today is about patients in Syrian hospitals that are currently being tortured. There have been several reports according to the BBC that many citizens in Syria would rather sit at home with their serious injuries to go to the hospital and risk being further injured or tortured. Many of these patients are currently have disputes with the government and when they are taken to the hospital they risk being arrested and possibly killed.
Though many people take the rights we have in this country for granted, no one should be allowed to kill someone because they disagree with the authority figure in the country they live in. The United States has recently talked about withdrawing its ambassador from Syria because he is currently facing death threats—yes this is in his best interest and I agree with the decision, but it seems as if the US only steps in when we can gain something. People are constantly dying for no reason in Syria and something needs to be done about it.

It seems like the occupy wall street demonstrations echo the concerns every american has. What seems to be where people disagree is the solutions to these problems.
