When the UNs ECOSOC recently held a conference, one topic was left out of everything that was talked about, the feminisation of poverty. It was stated that gender equality needed to be put into the policy making; however, no steps toward implementing it were taken. This makes womens groups worried that all their work will never see an end. Since the previous meeting of this type, womens groups feel like the incorporation of gender into financing has been downplayed and ignored. According to the ODA a total of .1 percent of its budget was spent on gender equality. Its been made known that the only way to incorporate women is to meticulously analyze consequences of all major financial strategies against the scene of what it is like for the poor women of the global south.
Overall, it seems that is in the back of all major decision makers heads that gender is important to the financing of their country; however, they have not found a way to implement it yet. I find this kind of pathetic, because it is obviously a known problem, the big wigs don't seem to truly care to take the time to listen to these womens groups about what policies regarding women and their financial status even though it won't take much of their time. Gender equality is very important especially in the global south and I can't wait to see someone actually do something about it.

That is an interesting article. I agree that it is amazing that this is a known problem yet no one is trying to do anything about it. Hopefully sometime will confront this issue and get something done.
