3 YEAR OLD BOY FILMED SMOKING IN FRONT OF MOTHER

3 year old boy filmed smoking in front of mother

A young boy at the age of 3 was filmed on a camera phone smoking a cancer stick (cigarette) in front of his mother. It was reported to the court, that the boy, “look like he had been smoking for years”. A friend of the mother filmed it and alerted social services. The judge sentenced the mother to 40 weeks imprisonment, suspended for two years and 12 month supervision. I think it should be more, this situation show lacks of parenting, someone like this shouldn’t be allowed to raise a child. The mother said she was “unaware of the act”. How could you not be aware of a 3 year old child, smoking cigarettes? I’m 100% sure a 3 year old child can’t take care of him or herself. At that age you should be supervising your child through the day. It’s not possible to look over a situation like this, unless you just don’t care. The boy knew exactly how to smoke a cigarette, and light it. Incidents like this is cruelty to children, and if she doesn’t care about her child well being, she should let someone else take of care him that will. The British mother is not the only person to be convicted of child neglect, there are many other. And sooner or later the court system needs to make punishment much harder. What do you think the mother punishment should be?

  1. I think that instead of sending the mother to jail, the child should be permanently taken away from her. Clearly she is an unfit parent and clearly she was aware of her child smoking--who else could have brought the cigarettes and lit them?

  2. I think that not only does the mother need to go to jail for neglect, but the child needs to be taken away and placed into a foster home where they will receive and get the attention that a three year old child should have. There is absolutley no reason why a three year old should know how to smoke a cigarette, especially at such a young age.

  3. I remember seeing two other videos within the past few years that show kids being encouraged to smoke pot. One video was of a three year old and the other was of two and five year old brothers. In both videos the kids are encouraged to smoke by the adults filming. What's really disturbing is to think about how many parents might be letting their kids do stuff like this and never get reported for it.
