A project at a local High School called the Digital Literacy Project is a new project that teaches students how to blog, post pictures, and write from the web. Students say that the book reports and projects that they have to do are not only easier, but it is interesting to them as well since they have learned to add new things such as photographs. Students are now preparing to take college courses their junior year of High School. Students have said by learning the new technology they will be able to get into better colleges, and have better resumes. A UNC Wilmington professor says students with these type of computer skills is exactly what the University looks for. Students will later place at UNC Wilming where they will take a full load of High School classes as a part of their accelerated High School curriculum.

I think that the program is an excellent idea! Not only does it give the students a head start on college courses, but it also teaches them the latest computer technology, and ideas that they can include in their work load. I also think it is a good idea because it makes the transition from being in a High School environment to a College environment a lot easier, because students know what to expect a little bit as far as the work load. This can not only make the transition easier for students but it can also help them to achieve outstanding grades at the end of their first semester of college.

  1. I think that this article is very interesting. I agree with you on the fact that the more that they can prepare kids for college in High School the better off they will be. College now is really based on alot of technology and by having them do some of the technology part in high school will definitely help them for the coming years. Also taking college classes their junior year will help them get finished with school alot quicker.
