Eighteen people are dead after a missile strike in Pakistan. The missiles hit the Pakistan side of the Afghan border Friday. Although not confirmed yet, this strike is suspected to be by the United States. At least five foreign militants were killed during the two attacks. The first attack on Friday struck a village in north Waziristan. A single unmanned drone fired three missiles during the ten minute barrage. During this short period of time two buildings were destroyed and ten people were killed. Five people of the dead were targeted militants. A few hours later, another missile was fired on a house in south Waziristan. Eight people were found dead. No other details are known or were given at the time. As of now, the United States does not acknowledge firing this missiles. However, the missiles are believed to be fired from unmanned drones operated by the CIA. Since August of last year the United States has staged more than thirty missile strikes inside of Pakistan. 263 people have been killed, which are said to be mostly militants. If this becomes a confirmed strike from the United States, this will be the first attack since President Barack Obama took office.
Many different views and opinions can come out of this short article. My opinion is this is great news to hear. I wish more stories like this were known by the general public. This was a precision strike performed by highly trained intelligence officials. At least five of the eighteen were targeted terrorists. When more information is released from the second attack this number is sure to rise. In war you could not ask for any better of an outcome. Because of the precision and expert intelligence gathered, not many people were killed or injured. To me, this attack was highly successful.

I will gladly agree that firm actions are needed to curb terrorist actions and ensure the safety of the public. But I would have to say also that though they may not be innocents from this country there are still 13 dead that may have possibly had no part in terrorist actions other than to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. To say the least balancing out who should die and who shouldn't is a job I'm just glad I don't have because of the slippery slope it is.
