13 year old boy 15- year old girl have a baby
In London, these are some of the youngest ages ever of someone have a baby. This story made head lines in numerous London publications. The boy stated to the media he did not know how he would support the baby. Him and the mother are dating so it was not just an sex thing. The couple says the baby was concived after just one night of unprotected sex. The parents of the teenagers were alarmed but support there childrens decsion to have the child. The county councils child protective services is performing an investigation to make sure that the child will be taken care of.
This story shocked me that it was that important to make a front page article. Whereas in the U.S., teenage pregnancy is very common even at the ages listed in this case. I feel that this goes with my topic about families because it shows that teenage pregnancy is not just something that happens in the U.S. and is looked down upon. It was also interesting the comment that one parent made about his son could be at home playing playstation but instead has been at the hosiptal everyday. In the U.S. that would not matter people would still be stuck on the fact that they baby was born and would have perconcived notions about the situation.

I agree that people in the US are far more concerned with appearances and need a reality check. Currently I have four friends who are pregnant, all out of wedlock. I told my mother about them, while trying to come up with baby shower ideas, and she was shocked that I was even involved with them. Afterwards she gave me the sex talk. I think that more programs should be provided that talk about sex and that they should be offered sooner.
I agree also, people really down frown upon situations like that, and most of the time parents will be blame for such actions, becuase people will question if the parents raised there children right.
I found it interesting that this story made the front page of a newspaper as well. I also agree with you. However, while the US in more concerned with appearances i feel like it is becoming more and more socially acceptable. It would never be on the front page of a paper in the US. And children's actions do reflect the way they were raised and people they are with. So, naturally, people look to the parents when something of this nature happens to the children.
