A cease fire is reached in Sri Lankan

After 26 years, the conflict in Sri Lankan has reached a partial cease fire. However, a true cease fire doesn’t look very possible. The government has settled for nothing less than a complete surrender of the Tamil Tiger’s forces, who are still trapped in the 142 mile area in the north and until they do the government is hammering the forces trapped there. This is the same reason why peace talks in the past have failed. The LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, which I have been calling the Tamil Tigers) had attempted on Friday to do what’s been called a ‘suicidal’ air strike against two of the government’s held air force bases, which didn’t succeed. The LTTE has begun to ask for help from the U.S and other donors for help in reaching a complete cease fire after 26 years of war. The tigers have been accused of forcing children into their forces while separatist groups around the world are crying out against the government’s ‘genocidal’ tactics against the Tigers. Humanitarian efforts have succeeded in removing thousands of wounded into military refugee areas, though those still trapped are still in dire condition.
The only thing I can say about this is it took 26 years to reach any sort of peace between these two groups and the government is talking about going ahead and wiping out the entire LTTE force anyways. It’s pure stubborn-headed bull that’s even kept this going for so long.
