Families Attacked by Religious Activists

At the Nisar Shaheed Park in Karachi had families gathered for a musical performance. The park is strictly for families to engage in activities, but on Saturday, religious activists from a mosque from Defense Housing Authority attacked and harassed the families. The activists said the families were interfering with their prayers, and the police stood back and them harass the families instead of handling the issue. Locals said the police just stood back and watched even after the beatings, as if nothing wrong had happened. The DHA usually has guards in front of the park only letting families in, but this day they let all the activists in. The families had talked to the DHA about the event for that day and everything was cleared through them, but then let activists harass them for making too much noise, and did nothing about the police not having any involvement.
I think that this story is awful. I understand that this is a different culture, but I cannot believe that police would actually let anyone else harass another, especially families. If the park is designated for families, then why did this all happen? I wonder what is going to happen to all of the activists, and to all of the families. I wonder if anything will actually happen to punish the activists. Also, I wonder how many people in this area actually see this as a problem, or if it something natural that happens. I feel bad for the families, especially the young children who might have been there during this incident.
