Hillary Clinton praised Indonesia’s initiative to fight Global Warming and its destructive side effects. The Secretary of state met this Thursday with Indonesia’s president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the presidential palace in Jakarta; they talked about their plans for climate change control. Their plan consists of starting a forestry forum and a coral triangle concept in order to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions. Yudhoyono encourages the United States to take the lead in this immense project that could save our planet as well as many species that are endangered due to the rising temperatures. He believes that the United States needs to lead by example and create a “global consensus” at the climate change conference that will be held in Copenhagen later this year. Indonesia has come up with the Bali road map, which is supposed to replace the Kyoto Protocol and attempts to set new goals to the decrease in emissions worldwide.”Besides the U.S.; the UN Environmental Program (UNEP) ALSO HONORED Indonesia for its [Coral triangle initiative] and the first ever [World Ocean Conference] which will be attended by some 10,000 delegates from 140 countries.” I believe this is great because global warming it is exactly what the name says…Global!! And for there to be any possibilities to even slow down this phenomenon it is essential that the entire world to work together; from the most industrialized nation to the least developed country. Everybody needs to put some of their part into it. It is also true that The United States has to take the lead, not only for the simple fact that they lead the world in carbon emissions but because this country is the most influential nation in the planet and the sooner we start taking action the sooner the rest of the world will follow.
