'Racist' Cartoon Causes Stir

Causes a "stir" eh?  More than likely just causes physical proof of something they said was "over."  Oh, racism?  That's over... right?

For the record, this IS definitely a GLOBAL, (not just US) issue, for real.

There is honestly not much to be explained in this article.  The New York Post newspaper recently published a cartoon (although not funny at all), depicting a police officer shooting a monkey dead, and saying "I guess we'll have to find some else to write the next stimulus bill."

Digest that for a second.  Did you laugh?  Hopefully your answer is hell no.  It's creepy and warped that even the most powerful man in the world can be sh!t on like that because he's HALF black.  And this isn't even coming from the south OR the midwestern retards.

No honestly, this was published.  I couldn't believe it until I saw it; and honestly, I'm going to even explain why that is racist, because it just is.  Apparently the New York Post thinks that referring to THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES as an illiterate, and less evolved form of species, is back in fad now, from the god-damn 1950s.

I see some serious issues with this, not all bad, but definitely not good in the warm and fuzzy ways.  The topic of race in this country is not approached by the majority of the general public... to a member of the other race.  I was born and raised in New York, and all I can say is that if they can publish a "cartoon" like that there, and when conversations and fights start happening, who's to say what advancements might be made in UNDERSTANDING one another rather that having racism express itself in such an immature and ignorant (and non-sensical) way?

I'm new to the south, but there are serious issues here.  Damn.  There are people here that can be the most racist [people] on the face of the planet but don't think they are because they begin and end all their diatribes about the presidential race, and remarks about the president with, "I'm not racist, but..."

You are racist mother*ucker. (sorry)

  1. WOW!!! I felt your rage on this one. I think now people are doing whatever they can to get some publicity even though they are publicity! It's a shame but it's so and people don't know how to express their disapprovals in a tactful way! I think they published that to get a rise out of those not strong enough to turn the other cheek. Racism is ignorance...the president could come in and turn this horrible mess we're in all the way around but there still wouldn't be a great depiction of the president in a cartoon strip, newspaper article, or television interview!

  2. I feel your rage too, I am very familiar myself what an ugly thing that bigotry can be and the results that it yields, I loathe bigotry, racism and homophobia just as anyone else. It is truly a shame that this problem persists to this day.

  3. Dude, your article is about racism, yet you just sat there and said 'midwestern retards'. DUDE! Think about that.

  4. You stated that this is definitely a GLOBAL issue and not just a U.S. issue, and I'd have to agree with you that racism is an issue that undoubtedly does span the globe. However, the assignment asks us to find an article that is specifically international in scope, i.e., the article must relate to two or more individual nations. While the issue of racism obviously does have global implications, this particular article deals only with racism within the context of the U.S.; that is, it deals with an American publication (NY Post) and U.S.-specific issues (stimulus bill, Obama, etc.) Sorry, I just don't think the article fits the criteria appropriately.

I do however feel that your rather brazen reaction to the article is justified. It seems that racism is becoming less and less pronounced in this country, especially when compared to pre-1960s--our generation in particular seems to be less inclined to take a racist perspective on things. Taking this into account, it is truly dismaying when a popular publication like the NY Post feels that it is appropriate to publish a cartoon containing some rather blatant connotations. What is even more unfortunate is that the Post hasn't even fully apologized for the cartoon--they attempted one of those quasi-apologies, "...sorry you interpreted the cartoon as such...it's not our fault you're offended by it", but thankfully people are asking for more. I think the best idea would be to boycott the NY Post.

  5. Yea... I know it's maybe not so directly a global issue. It was just a real shock to me to see that in 2009 in the north for that matter. In response to chealsea, I hear you; if only they were a racial group. Although I don't mean to discriminate againts retards, just sayin, but you're right, I was just in a bad mood. I'll try to keep it lighter on the next one, but it's hard.
