Soldier killed by fighting in Iraq

During fighting in one of Iraq’s violate areas called Tarmiya a US soldier was killed as well as 13 others, a female in a ski mask, and a boy in a building. This fighting took place Thursday evening when Task Force Lightening was attacked. The attack took place near a Sunni place of worship in Tarmiya. As well as the one soldier dying another was wounded. This brings the death toll in Iraq to 3,704. More fighting resulted from the ambush. Rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fires have came from this mosque since May. Troops secured the area and about twenty people were detained but armed men were still on the roof. “These insurgents displayed total disregard for the community by using a mosque, a sacred place for Muslims worship, as a sanctuary to commit their acts of terror," said Major Mike Garcia, a U.S. military spokesman. Another incident occurred on Friday, the attackers fired at US troops as they approached a building. They fought and the troops had to call in air support. They asked them to send out any noncombatants but they wouldn’t comply. Aircraft and snipers shot and killed four people including a lady in a ski mask. Nine more insurgents were killed and many more detained. Despite the fact that they asked them to send out women and children, a boy was killed in the combat.
It just amazes me that these people are willing to put women and children in harms way and not even caring if they get killed or not. They continue to perform illegal activities and put innocent civilians in danger. Terrorism is becoming a larger and more prominent of a problem that needs global attention. People need to know what is happening over there and know that innocent people are dying everyday.
