Closing the Gender Gap at Business school provides insight to why women are not attending European Institute of Business Administration, or Insead, an institution outside right of Paris. Needs of these women are not being met because many of them feel that the timing of business school is off. Many women want to start a family or are already trying to work and raise children. Insead has began to partner up with Forte Foundation an American initiative that tries to bring women into leadership positions by offering mentoring, financial aid, and networking assistance. Through this program they hope to help women obtain higher level positions in the field of business with the necessary skills. Insead has begun to grow and women’s numbers are rising just enough so that there are more women who are willing to speak up and share their opinions about certain issues. Insead has also begun to host networking events and scholarships dedicated to women only. The school is doing everything in their power to close the gap between men and women in business.
I feel that it is important for our society to have women as business majors. I am currently a female business major and I have chosen that distinct career path to hopefully motivate other young girls who are interested in business. I do understand that women in Paris have a different culture but their needs to be more women who are willing to step up into a business position. Providing role models for the women who attend the institute is a great way to empower other women to not only join this institute but also to really value and understand were their educations can lead them.
