Blog Post # 10 FBI Catches Massachusetts Suspect Accused of a Terror Plot Against the Pentagon

The Federal Bureau Of Investigation’s biggest conflicts in the U.S. today involves plots of terrorism. The FBI continues to main aim is to prevent the U.S. from being attacked by random acts of terrorism. The FBI’s top priority is to protect our nation from terrorism and national security threats. Earlier this week a Massachusetts man was accused of plotting to fly explosives-packed remote-controlled planes into the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. Rezwan Ferdaus the accused suspect was a Muslim American who was caught by undercover FBI agents after seeking rifles and explosives. The suspect attempted to provide material Support to a Foreign Terrorist Organization. He obtained mobile phones, each of which he modified to act as an electrical switch for an IED. He then supplied the phones to FBI UCs, who he believed to be members of, or recruiters for, al Qaeda. The FBI ‘s Undercover operations are used to combat all types of crimes and criminals, including in the counterterrorism arena.” Ferdaus was presented with multiple opportunities to back out of his plan but he never budged at changing them and he was aware of the harm that he could cause. Terror in today’s time is a major problem globally because terrorist groups have remained anonymous for years and still are flying under the radar. The war on terror is a global war being fought daily by several nations. There is an open-source database including information on terrorist events around the world from 1970 through 2008 called the Global Terrorism Database which was created systematically to collect data on domestic as well as international terrorist attacks and now includes more than 87,000 cases.
