An article written by Andrew Miga revealed that a man named Yang Jianil was imprisoned in China for five years. He was charged with spying for rival Taiwan and entering China illegally. Yang was forced to sit up straight up for four hours a day, beaten twice, handcuffed for two weeks, and was often denied fresh air. He was released in April but was denied the opportunity to leave until recently. Even though he was made to suffer he still has hope that china in on its way to democracy. He stated that "Nobody can stop the process"of democratization in China, "The only problem is how long and how much a price the Chinese people have to pay." Yang was one of the people that co-founded the Foundation for China, which strives for political change in China. Communist authorities feel as if these groups are a threat to their monopolies. Therefore, they will do anything in their power to prevent success in these groups. China is completely disregarding human rights in order to prevent the fall of their communist policies. This is a very powerful global problem because it effects not only Chinese citizens but also the citizens in other countries. People all over the world will dramatically suffer if their human rights aren't provided. Human right represent a standard by which all humans want to live by and those right should never be compromised.
