World Inequality
This article entitled world inequality and published by BBC News is a piece in which they "examine the facts about the world economy and the gap between rich and poor." From this article I received quite a broad view on the subject of inequalities. In this article you will read that half of the world's poor live in South Asia. This I found to be interesting, seeing as a "proportion of the population, there are more people living in poverty in Africa than anywhere else. The remaining half of the world's poor is split equally between East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Also in this article you will notice that studies show that world inequality has increased between house holds. In fact the income of the poorest 60% of people is equal to the richest 1%. This all caused by the fact that while the income of poor people continues to decline the world income gains over the last decade have actually went to the richest 20%. In General poverty has been rising in South Asia, Africa, and also in Eastern Europe, which is caused by the transition from communism. One other fact that was mentioned in this article which is obviously very important is the fact that "Investment in Education is seen as the key to improving human capital and building the capacity for future economic development." I learned that there a number of children who, because of poverty, are more likely to become illiterate. Studies show that nearly 1/3 will. There are so many ways to look at poverty and inequality. These are just a few facts
