Al Qaeda claim bomb in Algeria

On Friday September 21, 2007, a bomb exploded near a police convoy transfering foreign workers in Algeria. The blast injured nine people, two were French and one was Italian according to the official news agency APS. Al Qaeda later claim that they carried out the attack with a suicide car bomb. Over 250 kg (550 lb) were packed into a Mazda vehicle to be used against the Crusader Frenchmen. A French company, Razel said the foreign workers were their employees, however they claimed that none of their staff were injured. There were no comments made by the French embassy in Algeria about the attack. A spokeswomen said the attackers were targeting an off road vehicle which was used by the company to build a new dam in the area. Ayman al-Zawahri the number two man of Al Qaeda called in a video posted Thursday for Muslims in north Africa to begin the "cleansing" of Spaniards and French in there land. Attacks like this one is not new to Algeria almost 200,000 people have been killed since 1992.
