America's Concern with Chinese Imports Grow

China exports over two trillion dollars worth of goods each year to the U.S. alone. Although toys aren’t the only worry among Americans, (earlier this year was the concern of lead paint) now there are concerns dealing with seafood, having banned antibiotics, and finding some hazards with toothpaste.

Over twenty-five percent of Americans now refuse to buy food products from China. With three fourths of the country worried about imports, big companies are trying to do damage control. George W. Bush even issued a statement saying there was going to be control over the safety issues over imports.

The U.S. government feels it is China’s problem for not checking products more carefully. What is worse for some parents is that there is only one person from The Consumer Product Safety Commission that controls the regulations of imports of toys from foreign lands. The U.S Food and Drug Administration doesn’t even check over two percent of the goods that are shipped.

There are people now refusing to buy “Made in China” toys for their children. The numbers are rising for people putting a ban on toothpaste and foods imported. Consumers are even doing away with buying products from China altogether. There has been a major drop in the polls already in sells of Chinese made goods. Where Chinese products will stand in the future if the claims don’t get resolved is unknown. If resolutions don’t arise soon China’s economy might suffer, especially when prices are going to be rising for the upcoming holidays.
