HIGH POINT -- Aye Aye Tun made it through the terminal of Piedmont Triad International Airport in mid-September without hesitation.
But the 6-year-old girl from Burma balked after she stepped onto the escalator leading to the baggage area. She bolted away from her parents and older sister to get off but was scooped up by a woman standing behind them. Her family and everyone around them laughed at her uncertainty.
Their journey from Thailand to High Point was filled with firsts. Their first time using a seatbelt. Their first taste of American food. Their first time on an escalator.
