This article deals with China and their dependency on coal as an energy source. Coal is a major part of their economy as well, it has brought many jobs to people who needed them. This seems like a good idea but the increase in burning this fuel supply is hurting the enviornment. The soot from the burning is covering plants and crops in the surrounding areas making it contaminated and uneatable to the people. When coal is mined mercury is a by-product and most of the times ends up in a body of water where people are catching fish to consume. Health concerns are inreasing; nearly 4 percent of the countrys economic output is going directly into health costs due to pollution. Compared to natural gas coal emits almost twice the amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This causes a problem for the United States as well as other countrys since air doesnt stay still it is constantly moving it will only be a matter of days before the pollution has envaded our air supply.
