The is a growing crisis in the mental health care system. For many years the mental health system has been underfunded and the number of expert staff is still not enough. The providers are asked to accomplish almost impossible tasks. For example, keeping patients out of hospitals which can not happen is the patients are extremely ill. Many patients think that these mental health care providers are qualified to do more than just prescribe medications. Soon this perception could become true. Psychiatrists are often outdoing their own expertise.

In today's world there are many cases of mental health issues. The mental issues are caused from a number of different stresses. The government should increase the funds provided to the mental health system so that the psychiatrists are able to accomodate for the patients' needs. Also with the psychiatrists doing more than their expertise, they should be required higher education to better the services provided. I would not want an unqualified doctor treating me or prescribing me medications. Anyone in the medical field should be well qualified to do their job.

I quite agree that mental health is a system in crisis. It goes hand in hand with physical health. Americans are rich in many things but quite poor in health insurance of all kinds. AARP is address this issue with their link: http://thisissoridiculous.com where you can find videos as well as email links to power that be where you can make your voice heard. We can also sign the petition which will make an impact on our growing health care crisis. I am in the know because I work on behalf of AARP.
