Candy box bomber kills 6 in Iraq

Today, a suicide bomber killed six people with a disguised box of candy. This happened in Baghdad, Iraq. in their Anbar province. The bomber was trying to target Sheikh Aeifan al-Issawi, a member of the Anbar Awakening Council. The Anbar Awakening Council were celebrating the release of one of the other council members, Sheikh Hadi. According to al-Issawi, Hadi was in U.S. custody for about five days. He claimed that al-Queda in Iraq had planted a bomb near Hadi's house to make it look like Sheikh was dealing with insurgents. The bomber gave the box of candy to Hadi and it exploded killing him, and five others. The Interior Ministry official said that two of the five that were killed were gaurds. The official also reported that the bomber was a relative of Hadi, and also a member of the council.

I'm really not too sure of what to say about this story. Other people may have a different interpretation of this story and the event. I personally believe that this event was a payed hit on councilman Hadi. Think about it, why else would someone kill a member of his family, and club? It's obvious that the bomber was sent by someone who is afraid of what information was given to the U.S. members that had him in custody. Four to five days is not a long period of time to be held in custody. Perhaps, Hadi informed the members of the council what it took for him to be released. Whoever the bomber was could've been working for someone else for a while and was sent to do this. That's the only motive that I can think of for such actions taking place. What do you think?

You said that you thought that it might have been a hit on Hadi based on what information he gave the U.S., but considering that the U.S. funds their group, I don't think that was the case. Evidentally the leaders in Iraq are afraid that these groups will turn into a separate military force from theirs since they are funded by the U.S. They plan to absorb 25% of the groups under their command. I would assume that the bombing might have to do with what information was given to Hadi from the U.S. or maybe something to do with the power struggle between Iraq and the U.S. over these groups.
