Schools crisis entrenches inequality in South Africa
My topic is Poverty and Inequality and I found an article in Soweto, South Africa. The main thing this article talks about is education and how it’s starting to become a problem in South Africa for many students, since there is a lack of money and social problems. Many of these students don’t attend school since some of them don’t have anything to eat; some also stay home with their parents to take care of them because of health problems. “Despite South Africa's status as the continent's largest economy, such tales of social deprivation are common in a country where 43 percent of the population live below the poverty line.” Mabuza says “that the schools struggle to attract teachers to what he acknowledges is a poorly paid profession, it’s not paying, there is no incentive, nothing attracts the young people into the profession”. It seemed like poverty is not the only problem but inequality as well. Even though there are many types of languages, English is the language many teachers teach which turned into a problem for students who did not speak the language because they are not able to understand it. “Schools catering for black children always received far less than those for whites, further entrenching the policy of inequality.” Discrimination happens everywhere you go as well as poverty. It is very hard for people to succeed if there is a lack of education.

Besides unequal distribution of $$$ what other factors create inequality?
Yes. Poverty and lack of education are too of the biggest problems that we face worldwide. A lot of times, the two coincide with one another. I understand, and feel very sympathetic towards a mother who is worried about when the next time her children are going to eat, or if they'll have a chance to go to school. What I absolutely can not fathom is GREED. It makes me sick to my stomach to see all of these celebrities, music artist, and entrepreneurs on T.V. who have way more than a little bit, and a lot of them aren't contributing to these crises that we face. I see some celebreties and think to myself "Yeah, you're skiny. But at least you're skinny by CHOICE." I wish that there was some kind of law that could be enforced for all of the rich people where they had to give to poorer countries and charities if they make x amount of money. To me, everyone deserves to have at least three descent meals, and an education to try to make something of themselves. It's not right to be deprived of these rights for lack of paper.
