Bishop Tom Wright questions whether heaven even exist, wondering if christians have gotten it wrong all these years. Wright is one of the world's foremost theologians and thinks that christians have been confused for centuries. Saying that people invent ideas about the afterlife that are not in scripture and points out that christians are not ultimately destined for heaven. Wright feels that in the end God will literally remake our physical bodies and return us to a newly restored planet. He thinks that heaven is a temporary holding place for people until God remakes them, returning them to the planet. Wright hopes that his new book will revive belief in the prospect of a new, physical heaven and earth, which he says will somehow materialize when God decides to rebuild and restore the universe. " Heaven and earth joined together in a new reality".This is the exact opposite of what many christians believe, many believe that God will swoop all christians up to heaven and the earth will enter a period of cataclysmic wars until it eventually disintegrates. He wants christians to focus on how their final destination should affect their lives, in the here and now.
I chose this article because these kind of ideas and speculations can cause some turmoil in the christian communtiy, for a belief that christians have believed for centuries to be questioned is going to spark some contorversy. Though I think that Wright brings up a valid question who really knows what is in store for us after death.

Well, Ashley. I don't mean to go on this religion kick: well actually, yes I do. Me being a God-fearing Christian woman, I feel like this man is speaking garbage! I mean, any religion that you practice is a faith walk. What if in the end Muslims were right, and Christians, Catholics, Protestants and what have you end up being penalized? What if Buddhists and their beliefs are right, and Muslims, Christians, Cathjolics, Protestants and what have you end up being penalized? Point being is we don't know 100% for sure what kind of afterlife we are going to have. However, if you practice a certain religion, be faithful to it. This crock is going off and trying to start his on religion which I feel is something out of the pit of Hell! I believe the words of the bible, and I know in Revelations, it talks about the last days and how Christians will be fooled by these devils who are disguised as "leaders" who intend good for all. Trust me, we are in the last days and this man definitely fits the above description! Call me what you want, but this is how I feel.
I think that everyone has the right to their own opinions and that it is not our job as people and sinners on earth just like everyone else to judge what someone else chooses to believe. That doesnt necessarily mean that I agree with what the man is saying about what will happen to the people on this earth when Jesus comes back to earth and I totally agree that none of us know 100% what is going to happen but I think that everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is just one man's opinion.
O K this whole religion thing is a trip within it self. No one knows what the end has to offer. Has anyone died and came back and said that they seen God, Allah, Judah, Buddah, etc. The answer to the question is "NO!!" Your everyday life is based on your religion and beliefs. It makes your culture and identity of who you are. Believe who you want and live your life. The forgotten thing is that everyone is living to die!! No matter who you serve, in the end you are going to die. We go through life agruing about which religion is correct, when they all connect to each other some how, some way. Religions all serve some thing on a higher level, they all have a book of rules, and they all have a meeting place. Now please explain the difference of RELIGION!!!What's the big deal!!
