Two cases have been brought against 3 Chinese men. Two were residing in New Orleans, but were accused of getting government information in Virginia. The information was on detailing weapon sales to Taiwan, and a civilian analyst for the Defense Security Cooperation Agency sold the information. A separate case was brought against a California resident who was a 30-year employee and contractor for Boeing and Rockwell. He was arrested for selling secrets concerning the space shuttle and several military aircrafts and rocket programs to Beijing. This man was also a frequent speaker in China and is accused of talking with the ‘People’s Republic of China’. China denied the accusations that these men are spies and were greatly offended when the US government referred to the ‘Cold War’ of the Soviet Union when analyzing the potential intentions. China has also been accused of these actions times prior to these incidents and plead for the US to stop making these accusations.
The accusations are dangerous for our country on many levels. We can look at it in two views being that we are right, and that we are wrong. If we are right about China and their spies we have a potential threat of terrorism as well as war. It also goes to show that we do not know what they are planning on doing. But if the US is wrong in their allegations we have to worry about offending a country with an army the size of China’s. If we continue to accuse them of espionage they may use force against us. Either way we have a threat of violent acts.
