Chinese feel the sting of inflation

Lamanda(Michelle) Reid/Feb.15/1:28p.m./poverty and inequality
Chinese feel the sting of inflation was written by Lindsay Reuters and published on February 5, 2008 in the International Herald Tribune. On a global scale China is said to be getting richer, but locals say that inflation is having an impact on the economy. Liu Gaohua is a resident of a small village located on the Yangtze River and he feels that the rising prices have an effect that makes it hard to live a comfortable life. Liu is a married industrial worker with one child; people of this economic status are being affected the most by rising inflation. Along with the working class, the government is being squeezed sue to inflation. Government officials such as President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao are caught in between their reform goals and the need to level out prices. China is currently going through a reform. There are a lot of problems that the government is trying to fix, but this is very costly. The wealthy aren’t the ones who are affected by this; the poor and working class is hit the hardest. GDP is going up, but so are prices.
Currently China is going through a lot, and China is trying to keep up with the global economy. I think this is sad, but also I think it is a part of the economic cycle. But once again like normal the poor and working class is the people who are hit the hardest. Poverty comes from people who are already living paycheck to paycheck and prices rise, then they have to decide rather to eat or pay their bills. This isn’t just happening in China, this is a global issue.

It does seem to always hit the poor and working class.

I believe it's just a symptom of systems that encourage growth economically, and expansion. It's almost always expected and terrible when it does happen simply because those who really need to get ahead are always those who suffer the most.
