Vienna-based international organization, Morocco unwavering commitment to fight human trafficking, based on the balance between prevention and protection of victims, and prosecution of the crime perpetrators.
"Morocco is among the most respectful countries of international standards in the fight against human trafficking. Its strong commitment in this field has been internationally recognized and commended," Mr, Zniber said before the forum on the global initiative to fight Human Traficking. Which kicked off on wednesday.
The Forum aims to establish a network to implement a global stategy based on cooperation between all State stakeholders. International organizations, foundations in order to consolidate prevention and dismantlement of organized criminal networks involved in this form of modern slavery.
Morocco deems that international cooperation is a cornestone in the fight against this phenomenon, basing its approach on the principle of shared responsibility with its partners.
In Morocco over 300 criminal networks were dismantled in 2005 and more than 70 suspects were arrested in 2006. The North African country has taken drastic measures aimed to strenghtening the sentences imposed on traffickers and setting up a more efficient system to identify human trafficking victims among illegal migrants.
The socio-economic dimension is not neglected, adding that Morocco calls on its partners not to focus on the security aspect but instead favor an economic treatment of the migration issue throughout co-development, which generates growth and create job opprtunities
