Kashmir separatist leaders freed
Three separatist leaders held during rallies for independence were released from custody. One leader was sent to the hospital after release.
After nine days of a strict curfew the authorities lessend the curfew during the day hours. The release of the leaders came after a land decision over a Hindu pilgrimage. Over 100 acres of land is being set aside for a Hindu pilgrimage. The conflict was over the Muslims being angry over the land being set aside for the Hindu use. All business, schools and government have reopened.
The argument about the land started in May when permission was given to the Hindus. This land contains one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism. Because of the permission Muslims were angered and held many demonstrations. At least 40 people have been killed in protests, mostly Muslims.
