Twenty-four men were found on Friday dumped in a rural area outside of Mexico City. All of the men had been shot in the head and their hands and feet had been bound together. The bodies of the men showed signs of torture and officials believe that this crime is directly related to drug gangs. This was one of the largest mass killings in the area by organized crime groups. The President, Felipe Calderon tried to crackdown on drug “lords” in 2006. This effort backfired as violence continued over smuggling routes. Arrests have been made since then, but more dangerous criminals have emerged. This year alone, more than 2,700 people have been killed in relation to drugs. The men killed still have not been identified. Officials say that the men could have been from a town beside the state of Guerrero, named Arcelia. To reduce drug trafficking, the budget has been increased by thirty-nine percent. Mexican Congress has attempted to correct the problem that persists, but no success has resulted in their efforts. Maybe this new budget increase will be of some help.

This story is so unfortunate. Drugs seem to have taken over the lives of these locals. A good reason why this is the case is because they most likely feel a part of a family and they are also making money. This mass killing is absolutely appalling. I’m not sure if the government even knows what to do to control this situation. In all actuality, I don’t think a definite answer is out there. If it were, something would have worked by now.

Wow, I'm at a lost for words. I think its ridiculous that this happened to all these men. I think the government or someone needs to crack down on these crime groups so this wont happen to more indivduals. I defintley agree that this killing is appalling and the government probably doesnt know what else to do.

That is terribly sad. Drug/gang related violence has become ridiculous. I didn't know that there was this kind of agressive violence going on in different countries. I agree with Brittany when she said that the government needs to crack down on these criminals.

24 people were bound and gaged than killed. I just can't help but to think that they were someone loved ones. Someones father, brother, son, friend, and neighbor. It makes me sick to know that these types of things are happen and that there is little that I can do an little that others can do if you really have no idea as to what is going on.
