Energy and Oil
On Wednesday a Nigerian militant group announced that a oil pumping station and a pipeline crossing had been destroyed from a daylight attack. On Sunday, the army declared an “oil war” and the rebels moved in with hand grenades, dynamite, and speed boats. There were among 27 hostages and which included Africans, and a foreigner. The attack on the Shell flow station was the third attack on Shell in less than 48 hours. Shell wasn’t the only oil flow station attacked this week, Chevron was also.
I’m very confused on why these people want to attach these oil flow stations. I know were in a desperate need for oil but this is ridiculous. I don’t understand why they killed these innocent guards and took their weapons either. I think its ridiculous that since were lacking oil army’s are having to declare an oil war. I think it’s probably a good idea to have the solders abandon all the oil facilities so that more individuals don’t get harmed. I understand that they need security to watch over the facilities but the individuals lives are a lot more valuable then oil. I do think it’s a good idea that the government officials have warned soldiers and workers that more attacks are being planned and they even narrowed it down to potential targets. Hopefully a solution will be met from these horrible oil attacks or pretty soon the daily oil production will fall to zero.
