HIV/AIDS Testing Market to Exceed $3.9 Billion by 2015- Cara Beck- October 24, 2008- 2:32pm

According to Global Industry Analysts, Inc. the change from the belief that HIV/AIDS was a life threatening disease to the current theory that the condition that requires disease management. This change has caused a great increase in the number of HIV testing procedures. This increase especially affects the United States and Europe both of which account for 60% of the worldwide HIV/AIDS testing market. These two regions along with others are focused on reducing infection rates. Africa, China, and India, on the other hand account for 90% of the world HIV population. By 2015 these countries along with the rest of the world are estimated to spend $1.7 billion (USD) on monitoring test research. Of this $1.7 billion, the United States and Europe make up 75% of the market size. These two regions dominate the market size due to the affordability and accessibility of the monitoring test products.
The United States has one of the most highly developed and regulated markets in the world. This testing market alone is set to reach $32 million by 2015. One prominent aspect of the testing market that is found in the United States is the blood screening that takes place especially in instances of blood donation, like the Red Cross, for example.
I believe that this is a very responsible take on the situation. Knowing the projected cost of the testing procedures is the first step into attaining the necessary funds and putting them to use. Hopefully the United States will serve as a good example for other countries, specifically Africa, China, and India, in the case of appropriating funds and regularly testing for the disease.
